Budapest

The Hungarian capital has it all gathered in one place, from historical buildings to romantic river views.

The capital is beautifully located and shared in two parts of the deep blue river “Danube”. On the one hand, you find Buda, which is dominated by hills, mountains and green leaves. On the other hand, you find Pest, which is the vibrant city center with shops, cafes and nightlife.

Boat trip on the Danube

A good way to explore Budapest is with the boat trip on the Danube river. There are several companies offering trips down the river, but it may be a good idea to choose a guided tour.

This way, you will see a lot of the other things on the list of Budapest, including the Parliament, and if you choose to take the evening trip, you can enjoy the very special view of the illuminated city.

Széchenyi Bath

If you are in Budapest, you should not miss the thermal baths that have become a permanent part of the culture of the country. This building houses several saunas, steam baths and massage benches, which turns up like a yellow wall around the big pools and natural resources.

The Chain Bridge

One of the free pleasures in Budapest is the Chain Bridge, which is the first permanent bridge over the Danube. At the end of the bridge on the Pest side there are two large stone lions guarding the bridge. The other end leads into a tunnel under the royal palace, also called the Buda Castle.

The castle located on the banks of the Danube

The castle is a delight to the eye – especially in the evening or at night, where the whole castle is lit. Inside the castle you can find the largest library in the country, a historical museum and the National Gallery.
