Formal schooling officially began in 1956 in Qatar. The education system in Qatar is directed and controlled by the Supreme Education Council (SEC) and the Ministry of Education (MOE) at all levels.

Education in Qatar is representing a variety of international curriculum systems such as British, American, French and Indian. There are also Arab communities, such as Lebanese, Egyptian and Jordanian.
There are approximately 338 international schools in Qatar, and it’s a home to several private and international schools.

September is the month when most of the international schools begin their new year.

Several prestigious universities from around the world have satellite campuses in the country in Education City in Doha.

Most educational institutions are run by the public sector, who provides free education to children of governmental employees.

Most public school are separate schools for boys and girls, right from the primary level and most schools have chosen English as their language of instruction.
